Personalised Teaching & Independence Plan 249.00
Practical support for parents and carers who want to build independence without taking over
Sometimes the difficulty is not motivation.
The person may genuinely want to be independent, work, make decisions and manage more of their own life — but still become stuck when they need to plan, prioritise, problem-solve, generate another option or work out what to do next.
And as a parent or carer, it can be incredibly difficult to know:
When do I help?
When do I step back?
How much prompting is too much?
And how do I teach the thinking without becoming the person who does all the thinking?
This personalised written plan is designed for exactly that.
The plan is written for you.
The person you support does not need to attend a session, complete paperwork, speak with me or manage another professional relationship.
Instead, you tell me what is happening, where things tend to get stuck and what you have already tried.
I then turn that information into a clear, practical and easy-to-follow written plan that you can refer back to in everyday situations.
Your plan may include support with:
- moving from “I do it” → “we do it” → “you do it”
- reducing over-prompting without withdrawing support too quickly
- recognising when someone is stuck and teaching what to do next
- breaking larger goals into manageable steps
- planning, prioritising and following through
- generating alternatives when Plan A does not work
- making unwritten expectations more explicit
- using questions that hand the thinking back rather than giving the answer
- creating simple routines for decision-making and problem-solving
- understanding when more processing or wait time may be needed
- identifying whether something needs support, explicit teaching or greater independence
- gradually fading support in a deliberate and realistic way
Where helpful, I can also work through real situations you provide using my:
Pattern → Need → Support → Skill → Repair
framework.
This helps turn a difficult or repetitive situation into something much clearer:
What is happening?
Where is the process breaking down?
What support is currently being provided?
What skill may need to be explicitly taught?
And what could gradually be handed back?
Independence does not always mean “no support”
An important part of this work is recognising that independence is not simply being able to do everything alone.
Sometimes independence looks like knowing:
“I’m stuck.”
“I need more information.”
“I need to ask someone.”
“I need to check the steps.”
“I need this explained differently.”
Knowing how to access support appropriately is a skill too.
What you receive
You will receive a personalised written PDF plan based on the information you provide.
The plan is designed to be:
- practical
- clear
- easy to follow
- specific to your situation
- something you can return to when you are unsure what to do next
Your package also includes one round of follow-up questions by email within four weeks, plus one revision if I have misunderstood an important part of your situation.
Important scope
This is an education-based parent/carer support service.
It is not therapy, diagnosis, clinical assessment, medical advice, employment counselling or direct coaching for the person you support.
I do not assess the person or determine what clinical, medical or workplace supports they require.
Where a situation moves outside my professional scope, I will tell you clearly.
The focus of this service is the part I can help with:
How do we make the thinking clearer?
How do we teach the skill?
How do we scaffold it?
How do we gradually step back?
And how do we build independence without removing support before the skill is there?

From Chaos to Clarity because sometimes the next step is not doing more. It is knowing what to teach, what to support and what to gradually hand back.
